Re: Update: Christian Publishes a Response to Jeff Stein

Even his response is full of misinformation. You would think someone who blogs about watches would at least attempt to spew correct information.
The PN Rolex is not limited to the 6239, which btw is the least expensive of the various references. I think he is confusing the price difference between references with a price drop. He also still completely ignores rarity in the equation. One of several factors in the prices for the PN is the rarity (relative of course), as they were only made for one year. Besides the 6239 there is a 6241, 6262, 6262, 6264 and 6265...each at different price levels based on many factors. Then of course the 2447NS and SN, which as we all know define rare in a mass market watch. There is no doubt that the current prices are influenced greatly by the fact that on a given day its impossible to find one for sale, whereas on the same day one could easily find a PN Daytona.

Give him credit for his response, but he needs to spend some time on research. It takes all of 5 minutes to figure out that A&F today is not the same company it was when they sold watches. (the current A&F just bought the name and mailing list).
