: 1983 Heuer quartz Posted By: 747trace Date:

: I recently purchased a 1983 Heuer quartz
: model 980.020. I have three questions for
: the forum. Hello Trace, welcome aboard.
: Are the earlier edition quartz watches as
: accurate and dependable as the new Tags
: They have been accurate and dependable in my
: experience. I've owned a Heuer Pilot quartz
: for over 20 years and as long as you don't
: abuse them, keep their movements dry, their
: batteries operable they are stalwart
: performers.
: and second can anyone shed light on the back
: plate of the watch which reads ETANCHE ACIER
: 20 ATM Most watch firms are located in the
: French speaking part of Switzerland,
: Bablefish translates Etanche Acier as
: "Seal Steel"... Which would seem
: to me to indicate or imply a case made of
: steel with a 20 Atmosphere (200m) water
: resistance (seal)...
: Third and last question is there a
: informational web site or forum to find out
: info for the on earlier heuer quartz
: watches. For the most part this site
: (and my site... Link in the footer) is it.
: TAG-Heuer might have some information on
: their site, although I doubt it.
: Watch-U-Seek has a TAG-Heuer forum, but I am
: not conversant with their holdings of Heuer
: information... The impression I get of their
: forum is that it's more modern TAG-Heuer
: oriented, where we're more in to vintage
: Heuer aspects of the firm(s) in question.
: Good Hunting!

welcome show photos if you can. you need a host.
as usual I agree with the above , there is 1 other soure for your heuer quarts movemnet it is ETA you can find info on there site and also at watch supply sites on you movment. you can find a watch suppy house on TZ I hope i could say that ; if not let me know.
I personaly like the 1980 quarts movments better as fare as production quarts movments go. But I do not care and or work on them to often. But am certified by Seiko on them. My faveroits are the 80s quarts in the Diver Sieko and the R-l-x quarts from the same time. the -ol-x is a very well finished and polihed beveled movment.
Good luck and enjoy
