Laurent was the Alpha and Omega of watch collecting. He trod his own path and wasn't a seeker of notoriety, fame or respect. He collected what we liked, regardless of era or brand.

To me he was one of the founding pillars of Heuer & vintage collecting. He inspired me to look for the non-obvious, his passion was worn on his sleeve, and he was always a quiet, discerning spirit within the community.

Lately I've seen a little turmoil in Heuer and vintage watch collecting - all brought about by money. Laurent was the antidote to this, he calmly enjoyed his collection, his life, his passion... and enjoyed it simply for what it was.

I think we can all learn a lot by taking a leaf out of Laurent book and enjoy what we have to the full.

My thoughts are with his wife and children, they might not be aware of how many people he touched - but he was a true gent, an inspiration and a quiet knowledgable man who never blew his own trumpet.

I will dearly miss you, but as they say.. some of the brightest lights last half as long.
Laurent; you made your mark gently, and with dignity. Take it easy. Rest well my friend.
