Heuer 100 -- The two Carrera Datos (3147 S and 3147 NS)

Like probably most of the forum members, I have looked at all the 100 watches for sale – especially at the few manual wind 60s Carreras, which are my favourite Heuers.

The two 3147 Datos caught my eye, and having a closer look, I wonder if they have different cases. It seems the S has thicker lugs with a different angle of the lug ends, compared to the NS. In order to have a better comparison, I have made a quick photoshop composing, cutting both watches in half. It even seems that the overall diameter of the case of the S is slightly larger. The thicker lugs of the S resemble the 'fat lugs' version of the Carrera 12 Dato (ref. 2547), but in fact they are still different.

The cases of my Carreras (including my 2nd execution 3147 Dato) look more like the NS rather than the S.

Does anyone have an indication that there were two different cases available for the 3147?

Or is there a case from a different manufacturer known, which looks almost like the Carrera case (except for the thicker lugs and maybe a slighly larger diameter) and which can house the dial and movement of a Carrera (i.e. here the Landeron 189) without major modifications?

Maybe some of our experts can shed a light on this.

Robert
