For Those Who Say That Collecting Is No Longer Fun

For those who may say that collecting vintage Heuers is no longer fun (or maybe not the sport that it used to be), let me point out these two, both listed and sold within the last 24 hours. And let me ask for a shoulder to cry on, having missed out on both of them, by a matter of minutes.

The Autavia 1163 GMT (Mark 2) was listed by a pawn shop in Texas, and promoted by Facebook and Instagram . . . sold in under an hour for around $8,500 (from what I hear).

The Carrera "full set" was listed by Watches with Patina -- http://www.watcheswithpatina.com/heuer-carrera-3647s-full-set -- and appeared on Instagram and a maybe a forum (or two), and was sold in under an hour (with a $9,000 price listed).

Yes, there ain't much on eBay these days, and the three and four "handles" ($3,000 / $4,000) have become eight or nine handles ($8,000 / $9,000), but what a thrill it would have been to have opened the incoming box and to have seen either of these staring at me!
