Interesting How They Work with Newcomers
In Response To: Re: Alonso to run at Indy 500 ()

I had never thought about this process of breaking in the new drivers, with a lot of downforce, and then reducing it to increase the top speeds. Yep, 222 MPH is just loafing along, on that particular track.

This will be an interesting month, and we do look forward to your photos.

: Alonso puts up a lap at 222.548 mph at Indy on his first day our. A
: lap like this on a chilly, damp, windy day is pretty damned good
: for a guy who has never driven and asymmetricly set up oval car
: before. He commented that his right foot seemed to have its own
: brain which was not in sync with the brain in his head. After
: the Spanish GP he will come back to Indy and they will take off
: downforce and try to get him closer to 230mph.

: May in Indy will be a lot of fun!
