: Too wet to run....

About 30 years ago I attended a Team Lotus event at Brands Hatch as one of the supporters' club local organisers. It was raining when Ayrton Senna was due to demonstrate the current Lotus F1 car so I took myself to the startline covered grandstand to watch. Senna (Aye air ton as everyone at Team Lotus called him) went into Paddock Hill Bend at a speed that I thought would have him touching down on the far side of the paddock. 40 seconds later he did it again, and again for ten laps of the "Indy" circuit, in the rain! I resolved that the next time there was a Grand Prix at Brands I would be in that same grandstand. Sadly I had already attended the last GP at Brands in 1983.

Even when he was driving for McLaren I'd get a hand-written note from my "boss" at Team Lotus saying "What a wonderful boy!" when Senna won a GP.

I think Alonso is the best all-round driver today in any series, so GO FERNANDO!
