Re: OT: Grid Girls in F1 World Championship

: Few days ago Liberty Media, the US group who run Formula 1
: announced that Grid Girls would no longer be used by Formula 1
: in 2018. What a pity ! What think our US friends about that
: decision ? Where is the limit of this feminist trend ?

OK...I am an "US Friend"...I hope...so here goes.

As a sometimes credentialed F-1 and other type motorsport photographer, I guess I like grid girls. Grid girls make great photographs. That said, whether I or we like grid girls or not makes very little difference in the big picture answer to your question. F-1 is a business and thus needs to be a money making venture. Any and every decision needs to be made with a view to profit. Views to profit can be either short term or long term or some combination of both. I think and I actually hope that Liberty Media made this decision with that in mind. Time will tell.
