sometimes grey market watches have had their serial numbers removed. i can't comment firsthand on whether tag will honor the warranty or not, as i've never had a grey market watch with the serial numbers removed, but from what i hear....tag will not touch it.

i personally want the serial numbers. from my watching ebay, the ones with the numbers removed affects their resale value negatively. good luck to your friend on his decision.
