I’d love to know for sure there was a motorsport connection, but I think these were also used to time many other sports like skiing, athletics, etc. The seller couldn’t offer any history for it so we’re left to guess.

I also tried searching for photos of F1 races and development tracks (mainly Fiorano) from the period but never found one of these lurking in the background. Still it’s a great thing to have. If anyone has a catalogue with this model a scan would be great !
