Re: Enicar Motorsports History . . . Before Heuer?

Hey Jeff,

I just can recommend to have a look on GVMs page. We dont allways have the same opinion, but his work on the motorsport history and Enicar is fabulous.

http://gvmracing.blogspot.com

Just a few remarks:

- Stirling Moss was testemonial for the Sherpa Graph MK I and possible also wearing this watch during races. The MK1 was just available in 1960 to 1962. The watch from the ad is an MKIa from 1960.

- Jim Clark was giving some MKIs to some of his team mates for the winning of the championship in 1963. A movie shot of one of these watches you find here: https://youtu.be/srinWodVFno?t=70
- Jim Clark himself was wearing a MK II, this combination now is known as the "Jim Clark" (see link above from GVM to see pics).

As far as I know, this is years before Heuer became famous for his racing wristwatches. Of course Heuer had dash board watches inside the cars, but no watches on the wrist of the drivers, correct?

Best and eager to learn more,

Nico

: You state -- "Its a bit of a mystery why Enicar is just a
: brand of a few enthusiasts despite the fact that they have an
: enormous motorsport history (before Heuer)".

: Can you please post some information describing how the motorsports
: heritage of Enicar goes back to the time before the Heuer
: motorsports heritage? Also, the word "enormous" would
: cover a lot of ground; so I am interested to learn about the
: scope of this early history.

: Thanks,
