Straps and authenticity

I understand the unrestored original finish thing, and generally I have to agree. But what about straps?

I got these new straps yesterday.
I think the coloured stitching nicely offsets the dial/hand accents.
But it is not in the style of the original.. does that offend some people?
Personally from what I could see, the original Heuer straps where pretty crummy.
But maybe I'm trying to make the watch something it's not.

What do people think?

.

Then I have gone even futher into the path of darkness with this bracelet.
I took the bracelet of a similar era Baume & Mercier chrono.
I think the bracelet is absolutely perfect for the watch.
The design is similar to some Heuer bracelets from this era so I think it is justified.
Is this too far? You gotta admit it looks right.
.

So any views??

BTW: I got the straps from Alistair (ATG) if anyone interested.
