Scan Event -- Best of 2015 (January 7 through January 12)

Well, it’s December 31, the last day of 2015, the end of another fantastic year for our vintage Heuer collecting community. It’s not even 6:30 AM, here in Phoenix, Arizona, and in the first few minutes of this December 31, I have already seen photos of two absolutely amazing watches that have entered our community. What a way to end 2015!!

It has been a fantastic year for our beloved Heuer brand. We have seen tremendous interest in the vintage Heuer chronographs, with the arrival of new collectors, new discoveries, new books, etc. Traffic here at OnTheDash is at an all-time high, and so is the enthusiasm for the Heuer brand. Most important of all, I am confident that 2015 has seen many new friendships within our community.

So as we bring 2015 to a close, let’s schedule our “Best of 2015” scan event, to be held the first weekend of 2016 – Thursday, January 7 through Tuesday, January 12, 2016. You can use the first few days of the new year to reflect on 2015, take some great photos, or write out your favorite story of 2015.

Here are some prompts that might inspire our posts:

  • your favorite watch acquisition / acquisitions of the year – perhaps a lucky BuyItNow or flea market find, or maybe a watch that you have been chasing for many years
  • a new model or execution that became the focus of your collecting or a watch that you discovered or admired, Heuer or non-Heuer, of course
  • a favorite photo that you took during the year
  • a favorite strap or bracelet, or some other watch accessory
  • a box, carrying case, winder or other accessory that you are enjoying
  • a book, catalog, magazine or poster that you would like to share – covering a watch or maybe a favorite car
  • a new blog or website that you discovered, or an interesting person who you are following on social media
  • a favorite get-together or meeting with other enthusiasts
  • a new discovery from Heuer’s history, whether a watch or some item of information
  • a new camera, accessory, photo set-up or piece of software that you enjoyed . . . anything that is part of your collecting hobby.

Of course, you can address as many of these topics as you like or just pick one favorite photo from the year. Here was my “Best of 2013” posting, which may jog some thoughts for you.

We will start on Thursday, January 5, 2016 and run through Tuesday, January 12, 2016. As always, we will be flexible with the timing, so you can also post a little early or late, at your convenience. You can also go off-topic, to show us your new house, a new member of your family, a favorite vacation spot, or a memorable video or album.

Whatever you post, please use the subject line "Best of 2015".

So get out your camera, dig through your watch box, search your hard-drive and share whatever made 2015 a memorable year for you.

Jeff
