Today I decided to give it a shot, to polish my clasp with a pencil rubber. I purchased a ballpoint with a small rubber on the top of it (it can erase ballpoints, so the rubber was quite hard).
I rubbed against the clasp for approx 30 minutes, and voila! 98% of all scuffs, marks etc disappeared! I am really amazed of the results from a simple rubber! Most of the scuffs came from
rubbing against desk, window, etc and they are all gone.
The result isn˘Ąt 100% factory-like, little shinier than "original", but surely 100% better than ugly scuffs etc. I almost forgot how "shiny" the original clasp is though.. ;)
I can˘Ąt use it as a mirror (!) but I can see a blur image of my face (when I look at it)
When you guys use the notorious polishing sheet,
recommended some while ago, how are your results emerging? Do you have any close-up photos scanned for some reference?
I don˘Ąt have any pics now, but I could post one soon.
Prior to this treatment, I tried a "glove" suited for silver, which had some polishing agent impregnated.
The clasp got shinier but nothing more happened.
Since SS is harder than silver, I didn˘Ąt expect too much though.
Is "chemical" treated sheets/gloves bad for the metal? Somehow, the shiny look is quite appealing,
so I might consider it in the future.
Thanks,
Keo
