I always wait until the 1st, then advance the date.
How did you change the date? Should have worked if you advanced the date only without setting the hands (by using crown position 2).
But if you advanced the date by rolling the hands forward 12 hours--you changed your watch so that the date change occurs at NOON instead of midnight. You'll need to advance the hands ANOTHER 12 hours to get things back in order.
Remember, mechanical calendar watches are not smart. They merely advance the date every other time the hands pass 12:00.
