Thin Wrists, Perhaps?

You don't have thin wrists, by any chance? I do. So, I removed the links that are closest to the clasp (and a couple more). These solid, all-satin finished links seem to be thicker than the rest, so, with them removed, the clasp does seem to have a tiny bit of clearance. It's very slight, but I have noticed the difference. I don't know if this is what your problem is, but that's what comes to mind.
