Derek,

I have trouble pointing the gray market finger at authorized dealers. These people are trying to stay afloat. The manufacturers are the ones making the gray market fiasco. They make their money regardless of who sells their watches to the consumer.

Let's look at some market pressures and alternatives.

- Authorized dealers dump watches on the gray market because they, themselves can't sell them in sufficient volume to come out ahead on the tab they owe the manufacturers.

- If the manufacturers opened up the market such that the authorized dealers could compete with the 'gray' internet market, authorized dealers could sell their watches on-sight for the same prices the big discounters charge.

- Price being more-or-less equal, which would you prefer? Buying from a guy down the street whose throat you can get your hands around, or a web site you can't access half the time?
