If you do not plan to re-sell, then the issue becomes one which hinges on your enjoyment. If the stain makes it harder to read the dial or gives it a "look" that simply is not pleasing to you then by all means replace it! If the watch has nostaglic value to you as is then by all means leave it alone! Restoration or preservation unfortunately does hinge on your desires. Personally, all other things aside, I would restore. I know that I would enjoy the watch more that way.
