Service interval

I bought a GMT chonometer one year ago and thought it would be a good idea to have it serviced, IE cleaned, lubed if needed and o rings replaced. The dealer I bought it from said this is not necessary and tried to talk me out of it.

What are the opinions of the members here? Also read the below directly from the Omega website.

What are the service intervals?

Like any high-precision instrument, a watch needs to be serviced regularly in order to work perfectly. Obviously, we cannot indicate the intervals for such work, which depends on the model, climate and the care taken by the watch's owner. As a general rule, service intervals are between 4 and 5 years, depending on the use of the watch.
