Re: continious 5 sec.-gain
In Response To: Re: continious 5 sec.-gain ()

My SMP (only one week old, though) is also a little bit on the fast side, gaining between 0 and 5 seconds per day, but I find this rather easy to adjust: Look at an accurate (atomic) clock, yank out the crown to "hack" the second hand, wait the few seconds until the time is right again, push the crown back in, done. I've done this twice yet, it's really straightforward, and I don't see any reason why this should be doing harm to the watch, apart from causing wear to the crown's seals.

I'm expecting the frequent checks for accuracy to become less interesting after a few weeks though, as Dave Marskell said before.

If I actually *knew* a position to compensate for the gain overnight, I'd keep the watch that way, but I'm not going to do any tests to find it out. ;-)

Apart from that, I'm really amazed by the SMP's accuracy. It's my first chronometer, and I really admire that something completely mechanical can work at such near-perfect precision.
