Re: Keep the automatic...
I'll be buying an Omega sometime in Sept. There's the new SMP Chrono that will be out by then. I'm hoping the new mechanism will be more accurate than the previous. A colleague of mine has the original in Gold/Titanium and he didn't like it much for it lost too much time according to him. He presently wears a IWC and says it keeps wonderful time. I do not think it looks as good as an Omega however. To be honest though I really like my Seiko kinetic that I bought years ago. It never needs a battery, looks great, has never given me any problems and runs beautifully. At worst a minute off every 6 months or so. It is Titanium and gold and only cost me around $400 back then. I am fortunate that money is not a major consideration in my purchases but I still hate getting ripped off nonetheless. All these high end watches are marked up over 100%, sometimes several hundred percent. I always keep in mind that these watches are mass produced by machines (Rolex as well as Omega) and that their higher prices are just another marketing maneauver to establish a certain prestige and allure. Just my two cents.
