Re: Seamaster accuracy
In Response To: Re: Seamaster accuracy ()

Mine started out being 3 to 5 seconds fast, and now after 6 weeks it has settled with 1 to 1.5 seconds.

I'm consistently able to compensate the day's gain by putting the watch in a certain position over night. So from getting up at 5 am till going to bed at 10 pm, it gains 1.5 seconds. I put it into a "12 up" position when going to bed, and at 5 am, the 1.5 seconds are gone.

This is how I keep it over night:

Bracelet laid flat ---> ___\ <--- Face upright

Give it a try. Try different positions, my favourite one doesn't necessarily have to work for you.

On the other hand, there's nothing wrong with 3 seconds gain per day. First of all, it's well within specification, and you did know that even a certified chronometer is less accurate than the cheapest possible quartz watch, didn't you? ;-)
