Not broken in after 1 month

: Accuracy update: My month old 2054.50 has
: settled down to +2 daily and found that
: crown left position cancels out the
: difference the next morning.

I think that if you believe that the watch has settled down, you're in for a little surprise. Mine is now 10 weeks old (bought on 6/6) and it hasn't yet settled for anything.

It started out being a bit slow over the day, with strong gain (4 seconds) when lying on the back over night. It continued with being 3 seconds fast on those hot July days, losing them over night with twelve up, and now it's at 0.5 second slow with very slight gain over night on the back.

I'm not having a problem with that, but the break-in-period after which the accuracy is said to be predictable seems to be kind of a myth to me.

: I am so pleased
: with my SMP. I want to thank you all for
: getting me through the "new owners
: anxiety" I got quartz accuracy with an
: automatic for the first time.

You're underestimating quartz. ;-) Though, you're right. The chronometer accuracy is practically good for anything, and mine has never been off for more than maybe 4 seconds. I haven't had the crown unscrewed for 2 weeks now.

I got a quartz SMP for my wife yesterday, and with it's second hand ticking, it's looking like a zombie. No soul in there. ;-)

: I paid very
: close to full retail for this watch, but, I
: believe this SMP is worth every penny I
: spent. It will be mine for life.

Yeah right, until the next one comes along. :-)

I enjoy mine pretty much too, and I expect to keep it for a very long time.

: Omega is a
: great watch. I love to watch the salesman's
: eyes look at my wrist when I go into jewlery
: shops.

Me too. I wear mine on a NATO, and one guy in a watch store here in Frankfurt doesn't seem to be able to take his eyes off of it. I think most of this authorized dealer's merchandise goes to Japanese tourists (judging from the cuckoo clocks next to the watch displays) and nobody ever returns to his store. ;-)

Have fun with your Seamaster,

-hacmac
