"gain" is better than "loss" because....
Hi, since the others have already answered the question as to your watch "gain" of 4 sec/day. (well within chronometer standards, BTW!), i thoght i might mention WHY a mechanical watch is better to run slightly fast rather than slow.
Simple really,.....when a watch is slightly fast, business people who depend on their watches to make appointments will arrive on time or early....NEVER LATE! Isn't that the better choice? LOL

: I bought my bond auto SMP on 6 22 02 and it has
: consistently gained 4 secs a day no matter
: what position i leave the watch in
: everynight. I have heard some people say
: that gain is better than loss. Why is
: that?Isnt the gain going to more when the
: watch breaks in and the oil gets distributed
: evenly? I know its within the c.o.s.c
: boundaries but its still disconcerting after
: hearing many with the same model as my
: 253180 only gaining 1 sec or even less since
: the day it was bought.Should i get it
: adjusted? Will the gain increase? Thanks so
: much for your help in advance.
