Wow, Derek.......$250 sounds really high! While i've never had to replace one on my Omegas, i did get one replaced (unnecessarily in my mind, BTW!) on my girl's Rolex datejust when the watch needed a cleaning 2 years ago. I sent it via a dealer to Rolex, NYC, and was informed Rolex would only service the watch IF they would also replace the sapphire crystal already in the watch. The ONLY mark on the crystal was a pinprick nick on the outer bevel that was above the gasket ONLY, and would pose no threat to guarenteeing watertightness to the watch. They insisted on changing it........but that "extra" cost was only $70 or so. (total service was $445 or so, ouch!) I'm sure a man's crystal would have been more, but $250 still seems a bit steep in my mind!
I'll find out if/when i ever need one.......but i'll shop around first for sure!
