Watches like Omega use extremely good batteries as their original batteries. Particularly because a watch may sit in a jeweler's inventory for several months to a year or two before it is sold. So the watch you got much have been very 'fresh.'

When you do repalce the battery, try to get the exact same brand as the battery already in the watch. There are many places that will use less expensive batteries that don't last as long.
