I got a FREE replacement spring from my auth. dealer almost 18 months after buying my SMP 2055.8 from him. I put it in myself and it works fine. In fact, spring tension is quite high, making the force needed to push the buttons greater. There was a difference in the design of the previous spring to the new one. I suspect that Omega figured out that the old ones were a problem. BE CAREFUL: Don't attempt to replace this yourself unless you have:
1)the F&B screw-type pin remover (or better),
2)needle nose pliers, mag. glass etc.
3)experience and patience with small mechanisms.
