Baume, Movado, and Tag

I purchased my smp 300 auto for $1250.00 During my outings at the jewelers I found that Baume, Tag, and Movado were nearly as expensive for their Quartz watches as was the Omega auto. How is this possible? I think that these are three great brands, but are not even on the same tier as Omega. It seems as though Omega has a good thing going for the price because they are arguably on the same tier as Rolex for about half the cost. Can anybody straighten this price thing out for me.
