Hi, I am seeking (from what I can tell) a Seamaster. Very simple, white face, gold surroune (crown?), and hopefully showing the date (not day) with a leather strap. I placed a bid which escalated this evening up to over $500 on such a watch. This one boasted an ultrawhite fine barley grain dial-the only one I had ever seen. I also noticed that although the face was gold, the backside was stainless. Seller claimed watch was vintage 50's. From this website I have gleened that if the face surrounding the crystal is gold, the backside ought to be gold as well.
My Questions:
Is that correct? Also, do/did Omega make a Seamaster with a day/date and do/did Omega manufacture such a watch with a "an ultrawhite fine barley grain dial".
I'm the sort of person who refuses to pay a premium for anything which does not appreciate in value *sorry* (ex: cars). My husband really wants this watch and I'm scared that if I don't find him one he'll go and blow the cash on a new one. At the same time I want to make sure that I am purchasing the genuine article.
Many thanks all!!!!!
