My wife purchased a "new" Chronomat 1884, but it turns out the dealer has recently been terminated as a "Qualified" Breitling rep. They say this will not affect any warranty, but I called then main CT ofice and Breitling said no way! (the mail-in card serial doesn't match the watch!). Anyone know if the watch would really be covered? Guess I have to trust the dealer on that one (they even extend the warranty a year).
Also the salesman kind of insinuated that all the models they have were 98/99 years, but when I asked Breitling USA, they said my serial is from about 5-6 years ago! Is this a common practice, or should the watch be given a deeper discount?
Now for the screw-on back. Do all new Breitlings (or other fine watches) have the back screwed on straight? (logos in-line with the strap?). I looked in several other shops and all were straight in-line with the strap. All the watches at the shop we bought from had the backs on crocked. One other dealer said this is an indication the watch has been opened and is not factory new. Is this correct?
