Got my me fullsize Bond blue SMP bracelet tightened by half a link today. You might be interested in my experience on the phone with various authorized dealers in my area. (I did not buy it locally-used Keith Downing's excellent source)
I called two chain stores (Bailey Banks Biddle and Fred Meyer):
BBB said that any of their salepeople could do it-no mention of the difficulty of the SMP links. No idea what it would cost.
FM said that they had a "man" come every MWF and take the watches and return them 2 days later!!! The saleslady said that she did not know how much it would cost, becasue it depended on how many links i had taken out (what does it matter if it 1 link or 4???-still two pin locations to remove??) Yikes
I called two local stores:
One initially said 30 minutes with their watchmaker, then I call back and they say 1 hour or maybe overnight and $25! No Thanks. They seemed to know what they were doing but stressed that they would not touch an unauthorized watch without warranty card (mine is fine)
The last place (ER Sawyer in Santa Rosa, CA) quoted me one hour and $5. I went in and the very nice saleslady took it back and it was done before I took my coat off. Link in a plastic bag and NO CHARGE:-)!!!! She said that if it needed more adjustment to come back!
It pays to go local, to someone who knows what they are doing.
