Good point on the fact that automatics are factory produced... particularly with brands like Omega, tags, Breitling and even Rolex... However, there are still other niche firms that produce hand assembled movements such as patek phillipe and IWC...
If I had to choose between any good quality quartz watch or a hand assembled masterpiece, I would go for the latter... its simply a work of art...
Its like film... you can have two different types of film directed by Spielberg... "Schindler's list" vs "Jurrasic Park"... you choose which you prefer... I personally prefer the former...
and I still own a Mickey Mouse watch from the 80s...
