The description for the pre-Bond Seamasters that you are speaking about as well as the photos on this page are mixed up, partially. The description for the second gen mixes with the description for the first gen and vice versa. I have sent Derek 2 e-mails regarding this, to avoid confusion for people looking for info on this.
