: Two items: 1) I like the Dynamic series, but is it safe to buy
: one on line, and how do I spot the fakes?
Depends what you consider 'safe.' No authorized Omega dealers can sell online. So any Omega you buy online will be either gray market or used. Read the zOwie Fine Wristwatch FAQ for more information on the significance of this.
If the gray market issue not of concern to you, then still follow the common sense rules of buying from the well known and well reputed online dealers.
So far, I have not seen or heard of any fakes of the Omega Dynamic.
: 2) A company called World of Watches is offering a Seamaster
: Multifunction Omega. It has both an analog and a digital
: display. They claim it also has a cronograph, countdown
: timer, day and date display and alarm. All this with only
: one knob/button on the watch! What's the scoop on this one?
: Model number listed as 2521.81
Well, it is real. Quartz watches that do all controlled through a single crown have been around for a few years. Another such watch is the Breitling Aerospace. Controlling all those functions on the watch by the single crown is not a miraculous as it might at first seem.
It works like most menu driven tools where you scroll through a list of options and click a button to activate the one you choose. In this case, turning the crown scrolls through the modes, then pressing the crown in activates a feature.
