I have had the SMP quartz for a month now and it has lost ....maybeeeeeee... 1 second.
Quartz vs. auto is an age old question, unfortunately asking people if they are happy with what THEY bought will typically only get the vocal people.
Quartz is cheaper, "more accurate" and "more durable"
Auto is more expensive and "more mechanical"
I have not owned an automatic and this is my first "expensive" watch, so I cannot compare. I WOULD consider buying an automatic but I chose quartz and have been very happy. I probably would be just as happy with an auto, but saved some money.
