SMP Chrono keeps stopping

I have owned an SMP Chronometer for about 3 weeks and recently it has stopped during the night. This has happend twice and I put it down to the fact that I had not been winding it daily.

Does anyone know how often I should be winding the SMP Chronometer?? Should it not be self-winding??

Any help would be appreciated as the only other alternative is to return it to Omega - this I hear could take weeks to resolve..
