can't figure out hour hand on smp

I decided to change my smp bond to the 31st so at midnight the date will be the 1st by the time I get up in the morning. I changed the date around 6:30 pm. I did all the things I was suppose to to get the date to change correctly to the 1st. I noticed that when changing the date, the hour hand moves around the dail not very smooth like on my other watches. It seems to move smooth then stops at a groove and moves smooth again when passing the hour marks around the dail. Anyone else's watch does this? Anyway, I wanted to set my watch back to the correct time and I missed where the hour hand goes. So, I decided instead of going through all of the dates to get back to the 1st (which I eventually did) I turned the crown counter clockwise to move the hands backwards. I thought to myself problem is solved---- wrong!!!
As I watched the time change, I noticed that the hour hand was moving backwards---what? Can it do that? I guess so 'cause mine did. So, I decided to pull the crown all the way out to stop the second hand and change the time that way. The minute hand would go around the dail which moved the hour hand then in turn moves the date. This time things seemed all right. I wanted to place the hour hand in a certain position but it kept locking into the "groove" I was talking about earlier. For instance, between the 6 and 7 hour markers on the dail, I wanted to place the hour hand a bit closer to the 6 not yet in between the 6 and 7 (are you still with me on this?). Somehow the hour had kept jumping into that groove between the 6 and 7 hour markers on the dail. Anyway to make a long story short, I decided to leave the hour hand in the "groove" that it kept jumping to. I watched the time change and now the hour hand is moving forward and not backwards. I'm I suppose to use the groove to leave my hour hand in so the time will change correctly. Has anyone ever had this problem. I did me best to keep it away from speakers and such so it would not get magnitized. Any suggestions anyone? Is there something wrong with my watch and do I need someone to look at it just in case? Or I'm I just making something out of nothing?
