Go for the automatic

The "pros" of getting a watch that is a little more resistant to shock and more accurate are outweighed by the "pros" of having a Swiss automatic movement that is probably going to stand the test of time better than quartz in the long run. If you want to make the watch your primary or "only" watch, as I have done, and if you want to have something you can pass down to your son, then by all means go with the automatic. Finally, if you really want to wear a watch while doing extreme sports or other strenuous activities, put your Omega in the box and strap on a Casio G-Shock. You'll feel better about it.
