To begin with the GMT does have a moveable bezel, so that shouldn't be a factor.

As for the cold, if the watch is next to your skin and protected by a sleeve or glove most of the time, it's not going to get THAT cold. And if it's dirty or dusty, just make sure you rinse it off when you get a chance.

The debate between a GMT and SMP generally comes down to pure preference. If you have a use for the second time zone feature, keep that in mind. Otherwise, go with whichever one you think looks best on you.
