Hello,
I found a Seamaster Chronograph I am thinking of buying. It has all booklets, boxes, papers, etc... He told me the bracelet was stamped "French made." I looked in the Seamaster FAQ section and noticed the problem with the franch made bracelets. If this is a common problem, will Omega replace the bracelet with a Swiss Made version? If so, will there be a cost involved? If so, how much will a new bracelet cost? Another thing, He gave me the serial number of the watch. It is: 50010420 How old is this? My brother bought a Seamaster in December of 1996, and the serial number begins with a 6 digit. Also, my brother's Seamaster has a 5-pointed star on the opposite lug from the serial number lug. The watch I am looking at does not have this star--at least from what he could see. What does all this mean? I can easily sell my Submariner and buy this preowned Omega Sea-Chrono. I will have over $1000 left over after the transaction. I could use some of that money to buy a swiss made bracelet, BUT the five-pointed star not being there really bothers me, especially if it is supposted to be there. My second option is to buy a brand new Sea-Chrono from a dealer, which will leave me with about $150 left over, but in the end I will have a new watch.
Derek & anyone else, pleaase advise.
Thanks, Brent Schultz
