I recently purchased online the Seamaster 300M w/18K Gold Bezel(2230.50.00) and love it!!! You'll be surprised how much the raised 18K White gold bezel differs from the black bezel. To me the black bezel looks too much like a Submariner. The $800 price difference from the black bezel version was well worth it to me. I had considered the AC version, but I really prefered the Seasmaster/Chronometer 300m/1000ft lettering.
My advice is to go somewhere and look at both watches side by side and put it on and buy whichever one feels good to you. For me, I knew the first time I saw the 300M w/18K bezel, that it was the watch for me.
