Price can be argued to be a determinant of quality, but do we really get what we pay for?
Reverting back to a message and (article) i posted earlier, "A comparative study" between a fake and a real seamaster. Some really have to question how much it will cost for the production of a single genuine SMP if some decent Counterfeits that do the same job are sold at a much cheaper price...
Im not questioning preferences..for i myself prefer the real thing..
Whereas if insecurity and image was an issue, we should all be wearing Casio G shocks that may last as long, be more durable and provide better time keeping than having to pay a hell of a lot more for an SMP "chronometer" that will have to be serviced once every 4 to 5 years with extra cost... :o) (They're not using James Bond for no reason)
In fact... those that buy decent counterfeits (not that i support them) may in fact be receiving higher utility and value levels from the "brandnames" than those who pay a fortune for the real ones and end up with some guilt... However, this is very much subjective based.
I myself have visited places in Thailand and HK where they sell counterfeits.. and some of them are really quite decent. Not as decent as the real ones, but this goes back to the question on price and one's expected value and utility.
The legal perspective on the other hand, will be a different story.... Other e.gs:( Real DVDs with extras vs Divx and Xvid files for free... or even music but lets not go there ;o)
