i have worn that same watch every second of every day for 5 months and have not scratched the black portion of the bezel yet. it is protected to some degree because the black portion of the bezel sits sligthly recessed beneath the outer edge of the sapphire crystal and the outer edge of the bezel. this is a good thing bc except for the crystal, scratches show fairly easily.
regardless, this is an excellent high-quality watch that keeps me extremely satisfied.
