Re: Automatic movement 1120
In Response To: Automatic movement 1120 ()

The Omega cal. 1120 is really a modified ETA 2892-A2. The Omega version has a number of modications and embellishments and sports 23 rather than the standard 21 jewels for that movement.

Variants of the 2892-A2 are used in dozens of different models from most of the high end Swiss watch companies. Its almost an industry standard movement used in various forms in production watches priced from around $1200 - $4500 USD and perhaps even higher.

: Hi, I'm thinking about purchasing an Omega (in
: particular the SMP)...A large part of the
: purchase relates to my interest in the
: complexity of automatic/manual movements, as
: opposed to the somewhat less complicated (in
: terms of moving parts) Quartz movements. Can
: anyone direct me to any websites that have
: pictures of the 1120 movement and details of
: its manufacture (yes I realise its
: automated)...its like buying a car, would
: you buy a Ferrari with a lawn-mower engine?
: - Probably not - I'm sure most would like to
: see the engine/details before buying on
: brand name alone.
