Sounds like the watch has gotten magnetized.
Definitely go back to the dealer and make them exchange it for one working properly. Unless they can guarantee fixing it in under 48 hours, do not accept them sending it off for service. It is not reasonable to wait days or weeks for them to 'fix' somnething that went out the door in unacceptable condition.
