I've always been an Omega fan and am ready to purchase one. This is my first "luxury"
watch purchased new. I had an old DeVille quartz years ago, but it is long gone.
I have narrowed my choices to a Speedmaster Reduced or a Seamaster Chrono Diver, either probably in stainless steel. I love the Chrono
Diver in Titanium though and am considering saving the extra money to buy it. Still, I love the Speedmaster, too- so classic and
functional. I imagine one day I will own both.
But for now, it is one or the other and I need help deciding.
I like the Speedmaster a LOT and would just buy it, but it lacks the date, which I find useful. The Chrono Diver would have the date and
looks better IMHO, but it is a lot more money. (I started wanting a Seamaster Quartz. With the Chrono Diver I would get Speedmaster
functionality with Seamaster looks.) The Chrono Diver is a lot more money, though. I don't like the looks of the Speedmaster date all that much, so I have ruled it out. I have also read bad things about the movement in the Speedmaster Date. The face of the Speedmaster Date looks awfully similar to the Chrono Diver, so I have
to wonder if the movement is the same.
Any tips Omega fans can give me? What is the relative quality of the movements used in these watches... any to embrace, or avoid? Should I
get the classic Speedmaster style, or go for a Chrono Diver for the difference in price?
Finally, can anyone recommend a good gray market dealer? Eclipse Time has the Speedmaster Reduced for $925 in SS with boxes, cards, and
intact serial numbers.
