Thanks Dave, I guess to use your analogy I was just curious to know whether it's like a Grand Cheroke or a Land Rover, they're both 4X4's but the later has a lasting quality - Also not trying to be a smart a$$ - just kidding!! as I don't want to offend the US users...really!

I had read somewhere on this very site that leaving the Chrongraph running the whole time would cause "unecessary wear on the 'plate'" or something to that effect and hence I was curious as there appears to be those who think it has no effect and others who do. Mud on your 4x4 is fine but it's not to say that in the long run the mud will have some effect....hence my question.

PS the watch is in a second hand shop and it turns out that I'm able to trace back it back to the Authorised seller from the warrenty card....again I was curious about the frequency of Chronometer fakes given what I percieve to be a somewhat more complicated mechanisim.
