strange disease

I have been reading the forum almost every day for the past 6 months since a bit before I bought my first omega: the bond SMP.

Before the SMP, I have always been very happy with my Seiko pilot. It had been on my wrist for 14 years and I was still very proud of this watch: slide ruler, chronograph, date, 2nd time zone, extremly accurate, what more can you want???

Then for some reason I began to be intoxicated by the forum (sorry Derek no offence intended), and I bought my first Omega. I thought things would then stop but I have noticed it is only getting worse. After the SMP I decided that because of my job I also needed a dress watch.

Derek gave me sound advice and told me to buy a second hand old seamaster for $300. Did I listen: NO. I just fancied for some reason the AT with leather strap. Yes that was the watch I was going to buy.

But then I "discovered" the beauty of the white face GMT. You see the problem is that I "need" a dress watch but really I am a gadget man: I like a watch with some features, and the GMT sounded just perfect: GMT feature that also can be used as a compass, bezel that can be turned both ways, 300 meter weater resistance: difficult to resist. OK it will have to be an AT and GMT.

By that time my wife was starting to be a bit worried about my mental health: I was trying to explain to her how I needed a black face, a white face and a blue face watch... For soem reason she did not agree. But never mind I have a master plan: I am going to buy her a SMP mid size and she will get intoxicated as well (hopefully).

Yesterday things turned even nastier. OK I was sure that I was to buy the GMT white face and put the AT on hold for a while. But then I saw the Speedmaster day-date again: and I thought well that is a nice watch full of features: GMT, chrono, the style of the moon watch + day date and month, and the always useful tachymeter: it just does not get better than this for a gadget man does it...

Can anybody help ? does anybody as the antidote for this watch disease ? Please you have to save my bank account...

On a more serious note thanks everybody for this wonderful forum. I guess at least I know that I am not alone...
