It would be a good idea to take it off, wind it fully and see how it does over the next 44 ours or so. Position wouldn't account for being out of wack so much overnight.
Another thought. Because it's only 3 years old and SO out of wack, you might have a watchmaker see if it's been magnetised. A watchmaker could then de-magnetise it for you.
