In Response To: Seamaster Apnea *LINK* ()

The Omega Seamaster 300 Meters Apnea was developed in conjunction with the famous freediver Jacques Mayol. It has a robust 41.5mm case in stainless steel and a unidirectional turning bezel with minute markings and luminous dot at the 12 o’clock position.

The dial is available in a choice of black or silver, with applied hour markers with luminous inserts and specially adapted skeleton hour and minute hands with luminous Super Luminova inserts, as well as a red chronograph seconds hand.

The seven circular apertures on the dial represent the apnea timing function. When the start-stop pusher at 2 o’clock is pressed, the apertures successively fill with red from left to right each minute. Once the first seven-minute cycle is complete, the apertures successively revert to the background colour of the dial, allowing in total a 14-minute cycle to be timed. This special function is made possible by the OMEGA calibre 3601, which is a specially adapted self-winding chronograph movement with a power reserve of 40 hours.

This timepiece is fitted with a scratch-resistant, anti-reflective sapphire crystal and the screw-in case back (engraved with Jacques Mayol’s name and his characteristic dolphin and man drawing), crown and pushers ensure that the Apnea is water resistant to 300 meters.
